The Department of Employee Relations provides critical support to Howard University in the development and maintenance of a highly qualified and diverse work force while promoting fairness in all facets of employment. To that end, it is responsible for handling sensitive employment issues related to employee performance, attendance/leave, conduct, development and needs by providing daily consultative assistance and service to managers/supervisors and employees.
Technical assistance is provided with corrective/disciplinary actions, grievance and dispute resolution; fair employment practices, medical and family leave issues, workplace injuries, general life concerns that may impact employment, and other complex employment-related situations.
